1. Who We Are
Import GPX from Strava, Komoot (displayed as Import GPX on the mobile app and GPX Follower on the Wear OS companion app, collectively referred to as "the App") is an independent Android application published by Optisearch. If you have any privacy-related questions, you can contact us at: info.optisearch@gmail.com
2. Data We Collect — None
We, as the developer of the App, do not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on our own servers. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no analytics dashboards on our side.
Specifically, we do not collect:
- Your name, email, or any identifier
- Your GPS location or movement history
- The routes you import or follow
- Device identifiers
- Usage statistics or behavioural data
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The App stores the following data exclusively on your device:
- Imported routes – GPX files or routes fetched from third-party services are saved locally so you can use them offline.
- Offline map tiles – When you choose to download maps for offline use, tiles are cached on your device storage.
- App preferences – Settings such as unit system (metric/imperial) and display options.
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it through a system share action.
4. Location Permission
The App requests access to your device's precise GPS location (fine location) and approximate location (coarse location). This permission is used solely to:
- Show your current position on the map
- Track your progress along the route you are following
- Provide navigation guidance on your Wear OS watch
Location data is processed on-device in real time and is never sent to our servers. The Wear OS companion app runs a foreground service to maintain location access during an active navigation session; this service is clearly indicated by a persistent notification.
You can revoke location permission at any time in your device's system settings, though this will prevent the core navigation features from working.
Compass / Device Orientation (Wear OS)
The GPX Follower watch app reads the device's rotation vector sensor (TYPE_ROTATION_VECTOR, a composite of accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer) to orient the map and the navigation cursor to match the direction you are facing. No health or biometric data is accessed or collected.
5. Internet Access & Network Requests
The app requires internet access for the following purposes only:
- Fetching routes – When you share a link from AllTrails, Komoot, Outdooractive, Strava, or Wikiloc, the app contacts those third-party services to retrieve the corresponding GPX data.
- Map tiles – The map display downloads vector tiles from map providers (Komoot tile servers, Mapbox, or similar). These requests contain no personal identifiers beyond what is standard in any HTTP request (IP address, standard headers).
- Google Play Billing – Subscription status is verified through Google Play.
No other outbound network requests are made by the App.
6. Third-Party Services
When you use the App to import a route from a third-party platform, the App interacts with that platform's public API or website on your behalf. The App has no affiliation with these services and is not responsible for their data practices.

7. Google Services & Diagnostics
As an Android application distributed through Google Play, the App is subject to the data collection practices of the Android operating system and Google Play Services, including:
- Crash reports – Android and Google Play may automatically collect crash logs and send them to us via the Google Play Console. These reports may contain device model, OS version, and a stack trace, but no personal data.
- Play Store analytics – Google provides us with aggregated, anonymised statistics about installs, uninstalls, and ratings. We cannot identify individual users from this data.
Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google handles this data.
8. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
The App offers an optional Premium subscription (monthly and yearly plans) processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not handle or store any payment information. All billing, subscription management, and refund requests are managed through Google Play.
To manage or cancel your subscription, visit your Google Play subscriptions page.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to address it.
10. Data Retention
Because we collect no personal data on our servers, there is nothing to retain or delete on our end. Data stored locally on your device (routes, cached map tiles, preferences) can be removed at any time by clearing the app's data in your device settings or by uninstalling the app.
11. Your Rights
Depending on your country of residence, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Since we do not hold any personal data ourselves, these rights are primarily exercisable against the third-party services you interact with and Google.
If you have any concerns, feel free to contact us at info.optisearch@gmail.com and we will do our best to help.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
